Hope Behind Bars Africa is an organisation working across issues of human rights and criminal justice based in Abuja, Nigeria. We are seeking to hire a Finance/Admin Associate with experience working in the non-profit sector.
Role: Finance/Admin Associate
Location: Abuja
Work Mode: Full Time/Hybrid
Deadline: May 15, 2024
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee bookkeeping and administration of invoices and accounting documents in adherence to relevant accounting practices and standards.
- Prepare monthly/annual payrolls, and accounts closure, including bank reconciliations and submission of timely and accurate reports to management.
- Monitor expenditure against budgets, and cash flow and predict new trends.
- Contribute to the preparation of financial statements for donors and retention of documents in line with donor’s rules and regulations.
- Produce accurate financial reports for the management and the Board.
- Manage annual accounts closing and external audit in collaboration with the external auditors.
- Develop appropriate financial systems and tools.
- Support the office on risk management and fraud prevention.
- Oversee compliance of Hope Behind Bars Africa with legal and administrative requirements as an incorporated trustee registered in Nigeria.
- Maintain external relationships with service providers to ensure the efficiency of the office systems, supplies, premises and equipment.
- Provide administrative support related to program management and execution.
- Engage in other related duties as may be assigned by the supervisor or Executive Director.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field.
- Having ICAN, ACA or similar certifications is an advantage.
- Expertise in non-profit budgeting, forecasting, analytics and reporting.
- Proven track record in aligning financial plans with organisational goals, efficient cash allocation and resource optimisation.
- Experience in grant and donor fund management, proposal creation, financial reporting and compliance.
- Proficiency in financial report preparation, performance analysis and regulatory compliance.
- Skilled in financial management software- Microsoft Excel and Quickbooks.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
