was arrested and remanded in 2018 on allegations of committing armed robbery. His appearance in court happened 5 years later, precisely in November 2022, when our volunteer lawyer, Emmanuel Okorie met him during a routine prison visit and took up his case. After carrying out some fact-finding about Emmanuel’s case, our Lawyer filed a motion for his unconditional release pursuant to Section 296 of the ACJL. On February 10th, 2023, Emmanuel’s matter was discharged from the court.
Our Lawyer, Barr. Emmanuel Okorie drove him to the park and gave him transportation fare to go home. When Emmanuel Friday returned to his home in Ekpoma, his mother sent a voice note and prayed for us. She said she thought she had seen a ghost, and her dead son had come home. She had no idea her son had been in prison. We are now working closely with Emmanuel and his mother to ensure he properly reintegrated into society
